ASTM A312 Stainless Steel 253MA Seamless Pipe Manufacturer
We, Xintongda Special Steel (XTD), are a trusted manufacturer and supplier of 253 MA seamless pipes located in Songyang, China. The SS 253 MA, commonly referred to as alloy 253 MA, is a high-temperature austenitic stainless steel pipe made of 20-22% chromium, 10-12% nickel, 0.14-0.2% nitrogen, 0.03-0.08% cerium, 1.4-2% silicon, and other rare earth metals in the remaining proportions. We manufacture our UNS S30815 pipe according to ASTM A312, EN, JIS, and GB standards. The alloy 253 MA pipe has a very good resistance to carburisation, combustion gas, and cyclic oxidation, and provides high creep strength and good weldability. It can also withstand service temperatures up to 1150 °C in oxidising environments. Due to these properties, SS 253 MA is suitable for many industrial applications like metallurgical, petrochemical, and power generation industries.
As a leading manufacturer and supplier of these 253MA pipes, we have an annual supply capacity of 25,000 tons. We have 4 decades of experience in this industry and hold multiple international certifications.

SS 253 MA Pipes Manufacturing Process
To manufacture the UNS S30815 Seamless Pipes, we first take a solid billet of this alloy and heat and pierce it to form a hollow shell. This hollowed shell then undergoes hot working and cold finishing to achieve the required dimensions. Then we carry out solution annealing to stabilise the austenitic structure and improve its resistance to oxidation. The final step is undergoing pickling and straightening for the final touches, after which the pipe is sent for testing. To learn more about the whole process, kindly visit this page.
What are the Key Features of 253 MA SS Seamless Pipes?
- High Creep Strength: The 253MA seamless pipe gets its high creep strength due to nitrogen (0.14-0.2%) and cerium (0.03-0.08%). These elements create super-fine particles inside the alloy and lock dislocations. This process prevents the pipe from slow bending and stretching at high temperatures.
- High-Temperature Performance: Silicon (1.4-2%), when combined with nitrogen and other rare earth metals, helps maintain the pipe’s structural integrity up to 1150 °C.
- Excellent Oxidation Resistance: The alloy 253MA pipe uses a combination of two protective layers to provide excellent oxidation resistance: an outer chromia layer [made of chromium (20-22%)] and an inner silica layer [a glass-like layer made of silicon].
- Good Weldability: The small amount of ferrite and the higher nitrogen content in this alloy decrease the risk of hot cracking during the welding process. This makes alloy 253 MA easily weldable.
