ASTM A312 Stainless Steel 316 Seamless Pipe Manufacturer
We, Zhejiang Xintongda Special Steel (XTD), are a leading manufacturer and supplier of Stainless Steel 316 Seamless Pipes in China. Generally known as SS 316, TP316 or marine grade, this pipe is considered the second most common austenitic stainless steel. It consists of chromium (16-18%), nickel (11-14%), molybdenum (2-3%), manganese (≤2%), carbon (≤0.08%), and traces of other elements. Our high-productivity SS 316 pipes are manufactured in accordance with ASTM A312, EN, JIS, and GB standards. 316 has good tensile and creep strength. It is also exceptionally durable and more resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion than standard grades in chloride-containing environments. This is mainly due to the added molybdenum content in 316. These properties make the SS 316 pipe useful in marine, aerospace, and other applications that face harsh chemicals and elevated temperatures.
Here at XTD, we have a production capacity of 25,000 tons annually. We can deliver in-stock products within a week and production orders within a 15-60 day timeframe. Industrial experts across China trust us due to our 4 decades of experience.

SS 316 Seamless Pipe Manufacturing Process
To manufacture ASTM A312 TP316 pipe, we first heat a solid stainless steel billet and pierce it to form a hollow shell. This shell is hot worked and cold drawn/cold rolled to achieve precise dimensions. The next step is solution annealing, which restores the pipe’s corrosion resistance and mechanical properties, followed by pickling to remove surface oxides. At the end, straightening is done, and then we send the pipe for testing. For more information, visit the manufacturing process of seamless pipe.
What are the Key Features of 316 Stainless Steel Pipe?
The key features of 316 stainless steel pipe are corrosion resistance, high strength, and high-temperature resistance. These properties make SS 316 one of the most versatile materials for demanding industrial environments.
- Corrosion Resistance: The chemical composition of TP316 alloy makes it resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion, and overall corrosion.
- High Strength: The austenitic microstructure of SS 316 provides excellent toughness, ductility, and reliable mechanical properties.
- High Temperature Resistance: The chromium (16-18%) present in this alloy increases oxidation resistance as it forms a protective layer at high temperatures, while molybdenum (2-3%) increases the material’s stability.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is a 316 stainless steel seamless pipe?A 316 stainless steel seamless pipe, also known as ASTM A312 TP316, or SS 316, is a corrosion-resistant, durable pipe made of austenitic stainless steel. It consists of chromium (16-18%), nickel (11-14%), molybdenum (2-3%), manganese (≤2%), and minor traces of other elements.
-
What is the temperature resistance of 316 seamless pipes? The temperature resistance of 316 seamless pipes reaches up to 870°C for intermittent service and approximately 925°C for continuous service in oxidizing conditions.
-
Can 316 seamless pipes handle high pressure?Yes, 316 seamless pipes can handle high pressure ranging from 1,000 psi to 10,000 psi. The amount of pressure it can handle totally depends on its size and wall thickness.
-
How does salt affect stainless steel 316 pipe?Salt exposure can initiate pitting and crevice corrosion; however, 316 stainless steel resists this through the formation of a protective chromium oxide layer.
