SS 904L Seamless Tube Manufacturing Process

We make our 904L Seamless Stainless Steel Tube by heating and piercing a solid billet of austenitic stainless steel to form a hollow shell out of it. Then, the hollow shell is hot worked and cold rolled to get its precise dimensions. The next step is solution annealing to retain its corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.   • Good Formability & Weldability: Some factors like fully austenitic structure, mandatory solution annealing, absence of hardenable phases, and low carbon content, make TP904L tube easily weldable and formable.
  • Low Carbon Content: The low carbon content, as mentioned above, prevents carbide precipitation during the welding process, resists intergranular corrosion, and maintains ductility.
  • Superior Corrosion Resistance: Our 904L seamless tube provides superior corrosion resistance for several reasons. The high chromium content forms a passive oxide layer and prevents oxidation and general corrosion; the high amount of nickel stabilises the austenitic structure and improves corrosion resistance in reducing and acidic environments; the addition of molybdenum enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
  • High Alloy Content: The high alloying content (nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and copper) increases overall corrosion resistance, gives stability to the austenitic structure, and makes solution annealing mandatory.
  • Non-Magnetic: Our TP904L tube, like other austenitic stainless steels, has a face-centred cubic (FCC) crystal structure, which is non-magnetic in the solution-annealed condition. The high nickel content ensures a fully austenitic microstructure with no ferrite, contributing to its non-magnetic behaviour.
