ASTM A312 Stainless Steel 314 Seamless Pipe Manufacturer

We are Zhejiang Xintongda Special Steel (XTD), a leading Stainless steel 314 seamless pipe manufacturer in China. 314 stainless steel pipe is a high-alloy austenitic steel containing approximately 23-26% chromium and 19-22% nickel, which enhances its corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. The higher level of silicon (1.50 – 3.00%) improves oxidation and carburisation resistance at elevated temperatures. Our UNS S31400 pipes are known for their good weldability and resistance to oxidation and scaling at high temperatures. We use advanced manufacturing processes to produce these pipes that comply with the ASTM A312, EN, JIS, and GB standards. Our pipes can be used in continuous high-temperature industrial environments. It is also used in furnace and heat treatment components, heat exchangers, and radiant tubes. We perform strict quality checks and controlled solution annealing to ensure that our products are durable and dependable. We have a large inventory of ASTM A312 TP314 pipes in various sizes. This ensures fast and smooth delivery. We are also a multiple international certified supplier. This makes us a trusted SS 314 pipe supplier.

SS 314 Seamless Pipe Manufacturing Process

The manufacturing process of SS 314 seamless pipe starts with a thorough raw material inspection of solid round steel billet. This billet is then heated to a high temperature. The heated billet is then pierced using the hot rotary piercing (Mannesmann) process. Then a piercing mill pushes a mandrel through the center of the hot billet to form a hollow shell. Finally, the shell is elongated and sized using mandrel rolling. To achieve precise dimensions and a smooth surface finish, the pipe undergoes pickling followed by cold rolling or cold drawing. We then conduct solution annealing heat treatment to restore the material's mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Finally, the pipes are cut to the right length and straightened.

What are the Key Features of 314 Stainless Steel Pipe?

There are 5 key features of 314 stainless steel pipes. These include corrosion resistance, high silicon content, durability and strength, ductility and formability, and superior oxidation resistance.

  • Corrosion Resistance: This pipe resists corrosion effectively in mild and high-temperature oxidizing environments. A passive, chromium-rich oxide layer forms naturally on the surface. This constantly renews itself to protect the underlying metal.
  • High Silicon Content: The 314 SS pipe contains a higher percentage of silicon often between 1.5-3%. This addition enhances the pipe's resistance to high-temperature oxidation and carburisation.
  • Durability and Strength: SS 314 pipes have excellent long term toughness and can handle high mechanical stress. Its austenitic structure provides excellent mechanical stability. The chromium content contributes to strength retention and oxidation resistance in demanding thermal environments.
  • Ductility and Formability: This pipe can be shaped, bent, and welded easily without cracking during fabrication. Its austenitic structure, provided mainly by a high nickel content, makes the material highly pliable.
  • Superior Oxidation Resistance: The pipe can endure exposure to hot air and gases up to 1150°C without scaling or degradation. The combined effect of high chromium and the added silicon forms a tough, slow-growing protective scale at elevated temperatures.

ASTM A312 SS 314 Seamless Pipe Applications

Specific use of the 314 SS seamless pipe in each application is mentioned below. There are 7 applications of these pipes. These include:

High-Temperature Applications

Furnace Conveyor Systems

Heat Exchangers

Radiant Tubes

Equipment for Furnaces

Heat Treatment Components

Annealing and Carburising boxes

High-Temperature Applications

High-Temperature Applications

Stainless Steel 314 seamless pipes are suitable for high-temperature applications. They withstand temperatures up to 1150°C (2102°F) in continuous service and approximately 1200°C (2192°F) in intermittent service, provided reducing sulphur gases are not present. They are ideal for furnaces, heat exchangers and thermal processing due to their oxidation resistance and strength at elevated temperatures.
Furnace Conveyor Systems

Furnace Conveyor Systems

The SS 314 pipe forms the belts and rollers that move parts through industrial heat treatment furnaces. The material's exceptional resistance to scaling and oxidation prevents it from degrading in the hot, sometimes corrosive, furnace atmosphere.
Heat Exchangers

Heat Exchangers

The ASTM A312 SS 314 pipe separates and transfers heat between different fluids or gases in demanding thermal systems. Its stability at high temperatures and corrosive media provides long-term efficiency without material breakdown.
Radiant Tubes

Radiant Tubes

These are enclosed heating elements used inside furnaces to apply heat without direct flame contact with the treated product. The pipe’s superior high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance enable it to radiate intense heat reliably for long periods.
Equipment for Furnaces

Equipment for Furnaces

The pipe is used for internal furnace parts like muffles, retorts, and flame tubes. Its ability to endure continuous thermal cycling without cracking, or losing shape is what makes it suitable for this critical equipment.
Heat Treatment Components

Heat Treatment Components

DIN 1.4841 pipe is a common choice for baskets, fixtures and racks that hold parts during annealing or quenching processes. It retains its strength at high temperatures and resists the rapid temperature changes involved in thermal treatment cycles.
Annealing and Carburising Boxes

Annealing and Carburising Boxes

These are containers used to hold materials that undergo specific atmosphere heat treatments. The high silicon content of the pipe provides excellent resistance to carburisation, which is the absorption of carbon that can otherwise cause material brittleness.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the maximum operating temperature for 314 seamless pipe?
SS 314 seamless pipe withstands up to 1150°C continuously. This makes it suitable for high-heat applications.
  • How is a 314 seamless pipe different from a welded pipe?
The 314 seamless pipe is different from a welded pipe because the 314 seamless pipe doesn’t have a welded seam. This makes it stronger and more uniform in extreme temperatures. Welded pipes may face comparatively more problems with seams when they are under extreme thermal stress.
  • What sizes are available for SS 314 seamless pipes?
SS 314 pipes are available in schedules like SCH 5 to XXS. They also come in OD Range between 6 to 1016 mm, thickness ranging between 1 to 65 mm and lengths up to 18m.
