ASTM B163 Inconel 600 Seamless Tube Manufacturer in China

We, Zhejiang Xintongda Special Steel (XTD), are a global Inconel 600 seamless tube supplier. Inconel 600 tube is a hollow, metal tube made from a nickel-chromium alloy. We produce these tubes according to the ASTM B163 standard. Inconel 600 is known for being very resistant to rust and corrosion, and for working well at high temperatures. We provide this alloy 600 seamless (SMLS) tube for challenging applications because of its high-temperature strength, exceptional corrosion & oxidation resistance, and excellent mechanical properties. These include chemical processing, power generation, aerospace, heat treatment and oil & gas, where standard materials are likely to fail. This SMLS tube, made from Inconel 600, is produced without welds. This seamless construction provides uniformity, strength and prevents corrosion that can happen in the presence of a weld. Our ASTM B163 UNS N06600 tube is manufactured via hot extrusion. It is then followed by cold drawing/rolling. For quality assurance, we perform tests like ultrasonic, eddy current, and PMI.

Manufacturing Process of Alloy 600 Seamless Tube

The manufacturing process of Inconel 600 tubes begins with a solid billet, which is pierced with heat to make a hollow shell. To get the right diameter and wall thickness, this shell is then put through hot or cold reduction processes like drawing or pilgering. Then the tube is put through a heat treatment called solution annealing. This improves its mechanical properties and resistance to corrosion. Lastly, it is cleaned and passed through non-destructive tests for quality assurance. To learn more about our manufacturing process, please visit this page.

What are the Characteristics of Alloy 600 Seamless Nickel Tubing?

The 6 features of Alloy 600 seamless tubes include corrosion and oxidation resistance, high-temperature performance, carburisation resistance, non-magnetic structure and good weldability.

  • Corrosion Resistance: Its high nickel content makes the tube immune to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking. It also provides good resistance to multiple organic and inorganic chemical compounds.
  • Oxidation Resistance: Alloy 600 tube’s chromium content allows them to form an adherent, protective surface oxide layer. This layer prevents oxidation at temperatures up to 1093°C (2000°F).
  • High-Temperature Performance: These tubes stay strong and stable in a wide temperature range, from cryogenic levels to high service temperatures.
  • Good Carburisation Resistance: The high nickel content of these tubes helps in resisting carburisation. Carburisation is the absorption of carbon that can cause other alloys to become brittle in carbon-rich furnaces and petrochemical atmospheres.
  • Non-magnetic Structure: Inconel 600 tube has an austenitic crystal structure. This means it stays non-magnetic at the annealed condition. This is important for use in sensitive electronic applications where magnetic interference must be strictly avoided.
  • Good Weldability: The high amount of nickel provides excellent weldability using standard methods. This tube usually doesn't need to be heated after welding to maintain its corrosion-resistant properties.

What are the Applications of Inconel 600 Tube?

Inconel 600 tubes are used in many demanding applications. The following are the 6 major applications:

Chemical Processing

Heat Treatment

Power Generation

Aerospace

Nuclear industry

Oil & Gas

Chemical Processing

Chemical Processing

This tube is used extensively for heat exchangers, condensers, and piping that handle corrosive media like fatty acids, nitric acid, and chlorine compounds. It resists both oxidation and chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking.
Heat Treatment

Heat Treatment

Its strength and ability to resist rust and corrosion at high temperatures make the tube perfect for furnace parts like muffles, retorts, roller hearths and heat-treating baskets and trays.
Power Generation

Power Generation

Inconel 600 tube is used in steam generator tubing and high-temperature pipework, particularly in coal-fired and steam power plants. This is due to its reliable strength and resistance to thermal degradation under high pressure.
Aerospace

Aerospace

The alloy 600 is mainly used in jet engine parts, exhaust liners and turbine seals. These are very important parts of aircraft engines that face high heat. In these applications, materials must maintain integrity and strength at temperatures up to 870-980°C.
Nuclear industry

Nuclear industry

This tube is standard for reactor vessel components and steam generator tubes because of its excellent resistance to corrosion by high-purity reactor water and immunity to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking.
Oil & Gas

Oil & Gas

Alloy 600 nickel tubes are used in harsh downhole equipment and offshore platforms to handle corrosive environments that include sour gas, chlorides and high-pressure steam. This ensures the longevity of heat exchangers and subsea components.
