ASTM A312 Stainless Steel 316Ti Seamless Pipe Manufacturer
We, Xintongda Special Steel (XTD), are a reliable 316Ti stainless steel seamless pipe manufacturer in China and a global supplier. 316Ti stainless steel pipe is a titanium-stabilised version of 316 stainless steel. The small addition of titanium protects 316Ti from precipitation at high temperatures even with prolonged exposure. We manufacture this austenitic stainless steel pipe according to the ASTM A312, EN, JIS, and GB standards. This titanium-stabilised pipe is resistant to sensitisation at high temperatures (approximately 800°C / 1472°F), especially after welding. This makes it a more reliable and durable option than standard 316 or 316L grades in high-temperature applications. Our SS 316Ti is commonly used in heat exchangers, paper mill equipment, and coastal and marine environments. We have a huge inventory of these pipes in different sizes and have an annual supply capacity of 25,000 tons. We have multiple international certifications and can provide custom pipes to meet the needs of our clients.

SS 316Ti Seamless Pipe Manufacturing Process
The manufacturing process of stainless steel 316Ti seamless pipe begins with a solid round billet. First, these billets are heated to a high temperature (1200°C). Next, a process called piercing uses a rotating mill to make a hollow shell. The hollow shell is then shaped and finished by rolling and drawing it several times until it is the right size, has the right wall thickness, and has a smooth, seamless surface. Finally, the pipe is solution-annealed at a minimum of 1040°C and rapidly quenched to restore corrosion resistance and activate the titanium stabilization. What are the Key Features of 316Ti Stainless Steel Pipe?
The 316Ti stainless steel pipe has 5 features. These include resistance to sensitisation, high-temperature performance, superior corrosion resistance, excellent weldability, and formability.
- Resistance to Sensitisation: When exposed to high temperatures, this pipe prevents chromium carbide formation at the grain boundaries. This is due to the addition of titanium (Ti ≥ 5×(C+N), max 0.70%) to the alloy, which makes the structure more stable by bonding with carbon more strongly.
- High-Temperature Performance: Even at high temperatures for long periods of time, the pipe maintains high strength and mechanical properties. The titanium addition prevents chromium carbide precipitation, which is why the pipe retains its strength and corrosion resistance under prolonged heat exposure.
- Superior Corrosion Resistance: The 316Ti SS pipe offers better corrosion resistance (compared to non-molybdenum stainless steels) to many corrosive agents, especially pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. This is mainly due to the molybdenum content (2.00–3.00%), which strengthens the passive film and improves resistance to localized attack in chloride-containing environments.
- Excellent Weldability: The pipe is easily joined using common welding techniques without compromising its corrosion resistance properties afterward. The titanium stabilisation prevents intergranular corrosion in the heat-affected zone of the weld.
- Formability: 316Ti pipe can be readily shaped, bent and formed into various components without cracking. This is due to its austenitic microstructure which gives the steel excellent ductility.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
How is 316Ti pipe different from 316 or 316L?The 316Ti pipe differs from 316 or 316L as it contains titanium for stabilisation. Standard 316 has higher carbon content, and 316L has reduced carbon for improved resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding. This pipe prevents carbide precipitation due to the presence of titanium. This makes it less prone to intergranular corrosion post welding and provides improved strength in prolonged high-temperature conditions.
-
What are the advantages of 316Ti pipes? The advantages of 316Ti pipe are superior heat resistance up to approximately 800°C and prevention of carbide precipitation in harsh environments. It has better creep strength and long-term stability than 316 or 316L.
-
Is SS 316Ti seamless pipe generally stronger than welded pipe?Yes, seamless SS 316Ti pipe is usually stronger because of its uniform grain structure and the absence of weld seams, which can act as stress concentration points.
