ASTM B163 Monel K500 Seamless Tube Manufacturer
We, at Zhejiang Xintongda Special Steel (XTD), are a leading manufacturer and supplier of Monel K500 seamless tubes in China. The seamless Monel K500 tube, often known as K-Monel, is a nickel-copper alloy designated as UNS N05500. All our K-monel tubes are manufactured in accordance with the ASTM B163 standard. Monel K500 is stronger and tougher than Monel 400 as it contains aluminium and titanium, which allow for precipitation hardening. Engineers select these tubes for their high strength at elevated temperatures, oxidation resistance and excellent performance in marine and chemically corrosive environments. We use both hot and cold drawing procedures for manufacturing monel K500 seamless tubes to provide perfect dimensional control and thinner wall options. These tubes are used in oil and gas production and marine shafts that operate in harsh environments. We are a multiple internationally certified manufacturer with an annual production capacity of 25,000 tons for global markets. Stock orders are delivered within a week, while production orders take 15 to 60 days. We have no minimum order quantity for stocked items and a minimum purchase of 200 kg for any other requirements.

Manufacturing process of Alloy K500 Seamless Tube
We begin with high-quality billets and shape the tube initially through extrusion or rotary piercing. Cold pilgering and drawing are used to produce exact measurements and thinner walls. Depending on the application, tubes are solution treated and age hardened to acquire the required mechanical properties before final inspection and testing. What Are The Key Features of The Monel K500 Seamless Tube?
Monel K500 seamless tubes deliver 4 core strengths: extreme hardness, corrosion resistance, precipitation hardening, and non-magnetic properties.
- Extreme Hardness and Wear Resistance: Drill collars and pump shafts in underwater risers help to prevent stress-corrosion cracking This hardness can withstand wear in extreme conditions, such as marine shafts. Thinner walls maintain structural integrity during stress.
- Resistance to Corrosion: Monel K500 has a high nickel-copper base that makes it resistant to corrosion and allows it to work well in seawater, chloride solutions, and other chemical conditions. The metal can handle tough conditions and resist pitting, crevice corrosion or stress-corrosion cracking. This is due to a naturally occurring stable passive layer.
- Precipitation Hardening Capability: Heat treatment precipitates fine particles for enhanced tensile strength up to 160-180 ksi. This process retains toughness at elevated temperatures. It suits applications needing both power and flexibility.
- Non-Magnetic Properties: Monel K500 remains nonmagnetic even after hardening, maintaining magnetic stability under stress and temperature variations. The alloy's structure prevents magnetic shifts under stress or temperature changes. This ensures consistent performance in instrumentation.

Frequently asked Questions
-
How does Monel K500 tubing compare to other nickel alloys?Monel K500 tubing performs better than alloys like Inconel in seawater corrosion resistance and hardness after precipitation hardening. It performs similarly to Hastelloy in chemical environments but outperforms it in marine applications due to its nonmagnetic properties. Strength at high temperatures sets it apart for shafts and instrumentation.
-
What are the mechanical properties of Alloy K-500 seamless tubes?Alloy K-500 seamless tubes show tensile strength of 140-180 ksi, yield strength of 90-120 ksi, and elongation of 20-35% after age-hardening. Hardness reaches 27-35 HRC. These values hold at temperatures up to 450-500 °C without softening.
-
How is Monel K500 different from Monel 400 tube?Monel K500 adds 2.4-4% aluminium and 0.35-0.85% titanium to Monel 400 for precipitation hardening. This doubles the yield strength to 90-120 ksi versus 400's 28-50 ksi.
