Stainless Steel 304L Seamless Tubes Manufacturing Process
We manufacture the 304L Stainless Steel tube by taking a solid billet of that alloy and heating and piercing it to form a hollow shell. Then this shell is hot-worked and cold-drawn to achieve the precise dimensions. After that, we perform solution annealing to retain its corrosion resistance properties. What are the Features of 304L SS Tubing?
The SS 304L Tube has 4 main characteristics: excellent corrosion resistance, high strength-to-weight ratio, remarkable ductility, and exceptional weldability.
- Corrosion Resistance: The chromium content present in this alloy reacts with oxygen and forms a passive oxide layer, which prevents the tube from oxidation. The low carbon content improves the intergranular corrosion resistance and reduces sensitisation.
- Good Mechanical Strength: The TP304L has high strength because the material has more tensile & yield strength and can be manufactured with reduced wall thickness.
- Ductility: The austenitic microstructure of this alloy, stabilized by nickel content, makes SS 304L highly ductile.
- Weldability: The TP304L tube is easily weldable because of the low carbon content. It doesn’t let chromium carbides form during the welding process, which maintains corrosion resistance in the heat-affected zones.
